How much does child care cost compared to a Nanny Service:
According to the website www.mnchildcare.org the average rate for an infant in a child care center is $258.00 per week and $214.00 per week for a pre-schooler (as of March 2006).
The cost of a Nanny ($10-$18 per hour) depends on each position however is very close to the cost of a center when you have 2 children.
The benefits are greater if you have 3 children let’s assume an infant, a toddler and a school aged child: You could pay above the average wage a child care teacher earns and save money!
Every Nanny’s pay is negotiated up front and is based on their previous experience. The average wage a child care worker earns is $9.43/hour and a child care teacher earns an average of $13.80/hour. These wages are reported on www.deed.state.mn.us/lmi/tools/salary.
